Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to common questions about custom Sereeni pieces, the design process, and delivery.

General

How much does a custom Sereeni piece cost?+
The price of a custom piece varies based on factors such as the complexity of the design, choice of gemstone(s), and type of metal used. In general, our custom pieces start from 10,000 NOK (≈ $920) and above. I can work within your budget to help create a piece that reflects both your vision and your means. I'm happy to make suggestions regarding metals and stones that best fit your budget.
How does payment work?+
Payment is made in three stages. A design fee of 3,000 NOK (≈ $276) is paid in advance and covers the initial CAD design plus up to two rounds of revisions. On approval of the final design, a deposit of 50% of the agreed total price confirms your commission and reserves your gemstone — production begins on receipt. The balance is paid on completion, before shipping. The design fee is credited against the total price, not charged on top: on a 100,000 NOK (≈ $9,200) piece you pay 3,000 NOK (≈ $276), then 50,000 NOK (≈ $4,600), then 47,000 NOK (≈ $4,324). We accept bank transfer (Norway and international) and can arrange other methods on request. For online commissions, you'll receive photos and videos of your finished piece before the final payment.
How should I prepare for an initial consultation?+
The "getting to know you" session is all about inspiration. You're welcome to bring inspirational images, drawings, saved posts, mood boards — anything visual you've collected. Perhaps you have seen something from our Gallery that we can take as a starting point. Don't worry about coming empty-handed. You'll be amazed by the ideas Sereeni's curiosity and creativity unleash. Favourite colours, eras, and styles that appeal to you are an excellent place to start.
Do you work with specific gemstones or materials?+
Only natural coloured gemstones — sapphire, spinel, tourmaline, garnet, emerald and more — and carefully selected materials are used, each chosen for its quality and character. Every stone is ethically sourced.
What if I'm not sure what I want yet?+
That's completely fine. Many designs begin with a conversation and develop naturally from there.
What materials do you use in your jewelry?+
At Sereeni, we work with 14K and 18K gold, platinum, silver, and carefully selected natural gemstones designed to last a lifetime and beyond.
Is there a warranty with Sereeni pieces?+
Yes. We stand behind the quality of our craftsmanship: manufacturing defects and deviations from the agreed written specification are corrected or remade at no cost, and your statutory rights under the Norwegian Consumer Purchases Act (forbrukerkjøpsloven) apply. In addition, we provide resizing, repair, and maintenance services for all custom jewelry pieces. Please refer to our detailed policies for full information on coverage, terms, conditions, and any associated fees.
Can I use my own gemstone or existing jewelry in a custom piece?+
Yes. We welcome client-supplied gemstones and can also explore using gold or other precious metals from existing jewelry in a new custom piece. All client-supplied materials are assessed before proceeding. Gemstones will be assessed for their condition and suitability for the intended design. As their history, treatments, or existing vulnerabilities may not always be known, any specific risks identified will be discussed with you before work begins. Existing precious metals are assessed individually, as direct reuse may not always be technically suitable depending on their composition, condition, and the requirements of the new design. Depending on the materials and nature of the commission, certification or further assessment may be recommended or required. Where needed, we can help arrange this for an additional fee.
Can I make changes during the design stage?+
Yes. The initial design plus up to two rounds of revisions are included, refining the concept before production begins. Once the design is approved and manufacturing starts, changes are no longer possible. Additional design revisions beyond the included rounds may involve an extra cost, which is always discussed in advance.
Can I see the design before committing to the full piece?+
Yes. Every commission begins with the design stage: a design fee of 3,000 NOK (≈ $276), paid in advance, covers the initial CAD design plus up to two rounds of revisions. This is not a separate service — it is the first stage of every commission, and the design scope is the same whether or not you proceed. If you go ahead, the 3,000 NOK (≈ $276) is credited in full against the total price, not charged on top. If you decide not to proceed, you keep the design and the fee covers the design work delivered.
Where are the pieces made?+
Design and client collaboration take place in Norway. Production is handled by specialised partners selected for their precision and quality expertise.
How long does it take to make a piece of custom Sereeni jewelry?+
The crafting process normally takes 4–10 weeks from the point of design confirmation, so do start early to give us as much time as possible to ensure the best possible work. Naturally, more complex designs will take longer to craft.
Can I commission a Sereeni piece online?+
Yes, absolutely. If you are based outside of Norway, the entire process can be conducted online — something we have successfully done for many international clients.
Do you offer refunds or returns?+
Each piece is designed and made specifically for you, so the finished piece is exempt from the statutory 14-day right of withdrawal under § 22(e) of the Norwegian Right of Withdrawal Act (angrerettloven). This means a finished bespoke piece cannot be returned simply because you have changed your mind. You can still cancel a commission before delivery. The 3,000 NOK (≈ $276) design fee is non-refundable once the design work has been delivered. If you cancel after the design has been approved, materials have been sourced or production has begun, we may retain or claim an amount covering the reasonable loss caused by the cancellation — completed design work, gemstones and materials already sourced or committed, workshop costs and non-refundable supplier charges. Because stones and materials are sourced specifically for your commission, this can be substantial, but anything you have paid above that loss is refunded. If we cancel for any reason other than a breach on your side, the design fee and deposit are refunded in full. None of this limits your rights if something is wrong: every commission is documented in writing before production, and if the delivered piece does not match that specification or has a manufacturing defect, we correct or remake it at no cost. Your statutory rights under the Norwegian Consumer Purchases Act (forbrukerkjøpsloven) or equivalent consumer law in your country are unaffected. Loose gemstones are a separate matter: a standalone loose gemstone sale is final on payment, with no returns, refunds or exchanges, and is available only to private buyers in selected markets and to business buyers worldwide. See the gemstones page for the full terms.
How do you source your gemstones? And are they ethically sourced?+
We are committed to ethically sourcing our gemstones. We collaborate with suppliers who follow responsible mining practices and ensure fair labour conditions. Our lapidarists play a vital role in this ethical chain by employing both tracking and tracing strategies. They interact directly with miners and brokers to gather first-hand information. When available, we obtain detailed reports on each stone's origin and journey.
What is the difference between custom and bespoke jewelry?+
Custom jewelry is made to order based on your specifications. Bespoke goes further — it is designed entirely from scratch around you, your story, and your chosen gemstone. At Sereeni, every piece is truly bespoke: no two are alike, and each begins with a personal conversation.

Shipping & Delivery

How is shipping handled?+
Finished pieces are shipped fully insured and tracked with an established international courier. Alternative shipping arrangements can be made on request. A tracking number is provided once the piece has been dispatched, allowing you to follow the delivery at every stage.
How much does shipping cost?+
Complimentary worldwide shipping is included with every Sereeni piece. Any import duties or taxes in the destination country are the recipient's responsibility.
How long does it take to arrive in my country after the piece is completed?+
The estimated delivery time is between 5 and 14 working days, depending on the destination country.
Is the shipment insured?+
Yes — the shipment is fully insured and remains our responsibility until delivery.
Will a signature be required on delivery?+
Yes, we request a signature to ensure your package arrives safely.

Use & Care

How should I take care of my jewelry?+
Gold is beautiful and timeless, but it is also a soft metal. This makes it prone to scratches and dents. Take care of your gold rings, earrings, bracelets and necklaces while you are wearing them, and take them off when playing sports or exercising. White gold is plated with rhodium, which gives it the white colour, but over time this wears off and the yellow colour in the gold becomes more prominent. To maintain the shiny, white surface, we therefore recommend that you take your ring to a jeweller at regular intervals to have it rhodium-plated. How often it should be brought in depends on how much wear the ring is exposed to.
